Melling awarded electric water pump production contract for 2011 General Motors – Isuzu 1.7L engine

MGM logoelling announced that General Motors Powertrain awarded the Jackson, MI USA based company, a Tier 1 production contract to manufacture & supply our ‘green water pump technology. The electric switchable technology is targeted for the General Motors – Isuzu 1.7 Liter Engine. This water pump will be manufactured at the Melling facility in Jackson, MI and shipped to the General Motors engine assembly plant in Poland.
The General Motors – Isuzu 1.7 Liter engine is a diesel application that will be used for vehicles in the European Market. The Melling engineering and development team worked with the General Motors engineers to provide a water pump that would assist in achieving the September 2014 European emissions reduction standards required by the EURO 6 mandate. In prototype testing, this patented switchable water pump technology has produced emissions and fuel savings approaching 5%.
