Melling announced today that it has been awarded a Tier 1 business contract to manufacture & supply an oil and water pump for the 2012 FIAT 1.4 Liter engine. This oil pump will be manufactured at the Melling facility in Jackson, MI and shipped to the Chrysler global engine plant in Dundee, MI. The Melling engineering & product development team worked with the Chrysler engineers headquartered in Auburn Hills, MI on this project.
The FIAT 1.4 Liter engine is will be used in the FIAT 500 which is due to be in Chrysler Dealer showrooms for sale in mid 2011. Chrysler estimates that approximately 70% of these vehicles sales will be in the North American market and the remainder in South America.
