Melling announced today that it has been awarded a Tier 2 business contract to manufacture & supply an oil strainer tube for the FIAT 1.4 liter engine. This oil strainer will be manufactured at the Melling Products facility in Farwell, MI. The strainer will then be supplied to Melling do Brazil for component assembly and shipped to FIAT South America.
The powertrain applications are the FIAT 1.0 L, 1.4L, Fire & Evo engines in South America. It will also be used in North America for the Chrysler/FIAT 500 scheduled to be in dealer showrooms in mid-2011. The Melling engineering, sales, and development team worked with FIAT to produce this product that showcases Melling’s capacity to cut, bend and braze tubular assemblies.
